Kuusamo is located in Northeast Finland, on the southern edge of Lapland. The area is known for its distinctive upland landscapes and diverse natural environment, offering year-round opportunities for nature-based tourism and activities.
Finnair operates direct flights from Helsinki to Kuusamo throughout the year (approx. 1 hour). During the winter season, there are also direct international flights from Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Zurich. Alternative routes via Rovaniemi or Oulu are available, with onward connections by bus.
Rail travel is possible to Oulu, Rovaniemi, or Kemijärvi, with further connections to Kuusamo by bus or car. The driving distance from Helsinki to Kuusamo is approximately 800 kilometers.
