WHERE DO WE START?
Our guides will welcome you at the Safari House, located in the heart of Ruka’s pedestrian village (address: Rukankyläntie 13).
EQUIPMENT
We provide all necessary equipment according to the activity. In winter, this includes snowmobiling overalls, winter boots, gloves, and a hat or helmet. In summer, for example, whitewater rafting requires a rain suit, rubber boots, flotation vest, and helmet. We recommend wearing your own outdoor-appropriate clothing during activities. For hiking programs, we advise using sturdy footwear. Please don’t hesitate to ask us for more detailed clothing recommendations.
OPERATING MOTORIZED VEHICLES
Driving a snowmobile or other motorized vehicle under the influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited. All vehicles are registered for road use, and a valid driving license (minimum category T) is required. Routes include public roads and official snowmobile trails.
CHILDREN & PREGNANT PARTICIPANTS
Each activity description includes the minimum age requirement. Passengers on snowmobiles must be at least 140 cm tall, with feet reaching securely to the footrests. On the family whitewater route, the minimum age is 5 years. On the larger rapids, participants must be at least 18 years old and possess basic swimming skills.
We do not recommend river floating or husky/reindeer sled rides for pregnant participants. Pregnant individuals cannot take part in snowmobile or whitewater rafting programs, as the vibrations and exhaust fumes may pose a risk to the unborn child.
MEALS
Activity descriptions indicate which meals are included. Please inform us of any allergies or dietary requirements when booking, or at the latest one day before the activity.
ACTIVITY DIFFICULTY LEVELS
Each activity is assigned a difficulty level in the description. Easy-level programs are suitable for most participants and require no prior experience or special physical condition. Medium-level activities require a moderate level of fitness and/or driving skills. Regardless of the activity, it is essential to listen carefully to the guide’s instructions and be able to follow them accordingly.
