Tailored Adventures Rukapalvelu strengthens international growth through a multi-year development programme – aiming to deliver even higher-quality all-inclusive packages for international guests
Rukapalvelu Oy has launched a major EU co-funded development programme designed to strengthen the company’s international competitiveness and respond to growing demand for high-quality, ready-made travel packages. With a total investment of approximately EUR 3.5 million, the programme focuses comprehensively on the development of accommodation, activity services, infrastructure, logistics and quality management.
The company has worked closely with international tour operators for many years, but international growth, year-round operations and the development of complete travel packages are now being elevated to a central, more systematic role on a significantly larger scale.
“International tourism requires sufficient capacity, long-term development, high quality and seamlessly functioning packages. For us, this development programme is above all an investment in a smooth and high-quality customer experience,” says CEO Jokke Kämäräinen.
Wilderness camps, trails and service infrastructure tailored to international demand
The development work aims to respond to new market needs by upgrading Rukapalvelu’s wilderness camps and locations used for activity services. The company’s sites include the Pohjanseita, Forest Spa, Kammi, Daza, Hippa and Pohjantähti wilderness camps in the Kuusamo area.
In practical terms, this involves increasing guest capacity, redesigning programme structures, improving trail networks and logistics, and developing equipment, maintenance processes and quality assurance.
“When building complete travel packages for international guests, small details make a big difference. Trails, equipment, schedules and facilities must be designed to function seamlessly across seasons and for different customer groups,” Kämäräinen explains.
Significant investments in accommodation and maintenance facilities
The development programme also includes substantial investments. In 2025, new equipment storage and maintenance facilities of approximately 400 square metres were completed, supporting the growing activity services business and enabling more efficient and higher-quality maintenance operations.
Rukariutta’s accommodation capacity will be significantly expanded with the construction of 24 new apartments, providing a total of 120 additional beds. The new accommodation complex will be completed in November 2026, after which Rukariutta will be able to host a total of 228 guests across 42 apartments. These accommodation solutions are particularly well suited to international groups and longer stays.
Sustainability and local impact at the core
Sustainability, year-round tourism development and local impact are key priorities throughout the programme. Improved trail networks, maintenance processes and facility solutions support sustainable use and long-lasting infrastructure, while the investments strengthen regional vitality and create more year-round employment opportunities.
“By building sustainable infrastructure and well-functioning processes, we are laying the foundation for both business growth and the long-term wellbeing of the region. This reflects our values-based approach to responsibility,” Kämäräinen concludes.
